Billabong was founded by Gordon Merchant on Australia's Gold Coast in 1973 with a vision to share the feeling of wave riding with the world. It started with boardshorts and now makes surf, swim and lifestyle clothing, including swimwear, and says it remains committed to pushing surfing and surf culture forward. Billabong is owned by Authentic Brands Group; product and retail operations are handled by its partners.
